Survivor-Led • Child-Chosen

We don't assign monitors.
We let children choose who they trust.

Twisted Destiny is a nonprofit built entirely by survivors of childhood abuse. We connect children with mentors who understand their pain, because we lived it. And we let every child decide who they want in their corner.

1 in 4

66%

9x

We don't study abuse from textbooks.
We survived it.

Every single person in our organization has personal experience with childhood trauma. That's not a coincidence. It's a requirement.

01

Child-Choice Mentoring

We never force a child into a relationship with a monitor. Instead, our mentors share their own stories first. The child listens, connects, and chooses who they trust. That choice is sacred, and it's theirs.

02

Survivor-Led, Not System-Led

Traditional programs assign caseworkers with degrees but no lived experience. Our mentors know what it feels like to be that child. We bring empathy that can't be trained. It can only be lived.

03

We Share Our Own Stories

Before a child trusts us, we trust them first. Every mentor opens with their own childhood trauma, because a child who has been silenced needs to see that speaking is safe.

04

Giving Voice to the Voiceless

Abuse steals a child's voice. We give it back. Not by speaking for them, but by showing them that someone who lost their voice too found a way to use it again.

Childhood abuse is not rare.
Reporting it is.

In 2022, state agencies identified nearly 560,000 victims of child maltreatment. But that number only scratches the surface. For every case that gets reported, two more stay hidden behind closed doors, buried in silence and fear.

The long-term effects are devastating. Children who experience six or more adverse childhood experiences have a life expectancy 20 years shorter than those who experience none. The damage does not end with childhood. It follows survivors into every relationship, every job, every quiet moment for the rest of their lives.

These are not just statistics. They are the children sitting in classrooms right now, afraid to speak. Twisted Destiny exists because they deserve someone who understands.

Built from lived truth

"I know what it feels like to lose your voice as a child. I know the silence, the fear, the feeling that no one will believe you. That's exactly why I have the knowledge and the strength to make a difference in just one life, or more. Every person in this organization carries their own story. That's what makes us real. That's what makes us different."

Three ways to change a child's life

Whether you donate, volunteer, or share our mission, you help break the cycle of silence.

Every child deserves someone
who chose to understand.

Twisted Destiny exists because the children who lost their voice deserve to know they are not alone, and that healing is possible.
